Today is a beautiful day. It is warm, well at least the warmest day I've had so far and even with the constant wind the temperature is perfect.

Start the day with a quick stop at the ferry terminal to change my date of departure. It seems when I booked the ferry ride I had me leaving the very next day so had to change that.

Then it was off the the south end of the island, L'Île-du-Havre-Aubert. I must say that this is a stunningly beautiful island.

Miles and miles of sandy beaches and dunes, bright red rocks that end at the ocean and lots of green grass.

The island is small so you can see both ends of it at certain locations. The most southern point of the island is on the right and the northern part on the left.

In Havre-Aubert there is a large hill with a windy dirt road going up it with a little parking lot. Short hike up to the top and the view is spectacular. This is a must stop if you are down there.

Because of the islands location in the Gulf of St. Lawrence it is a very windy place. This makes it a destination for wind and kite surfers.

One thing I noticed is there a quite a few roads that just end at the shore. This is not because of just being a road to the shore but a road that has disappeared due to erosion. Talking to some of the locals I learned that the island is erodong by one to two metres a year.

The other thing I noticed is there are many dirt roads and trails. Some of these are quite nice and take you to secluded areas of the island. And some are made of very soft sand that will take you an hour to get out of once you are stuck. Good thing the Ural has a shovel on it.

At the north end, Grand Entree, I stoped in at Chez Halabolina for a very tasty lobster sandwich. This was probably one of the best ones I had on the trip.

From there it was back to the campground to pick up my growler. During the day I passed À l’abri de la Tempête, a small micro brewery and I wondered if they would fill my growler.

When I walked in I saw the guys from the ferry who I lent my straps too. We sat and had a beer and they invited me over to their cottage for a home cooked meal.

So I grabbed a sampler pack and followed them back to the cottage.

We had a delicious meal and good conversation.

From there it was back to the campground for a good nights sleep.
