Well day six starts with another cold night, very cold. I was warm all bundled up in my sleeping bag and wearing a toque but when I had to go out and use the facilities, damn was it cold.

I usually will use my fleece or hoodie as a pillow when I camp just to carry less stuff but since I was wearing my fleece most of the time I realised I needed to get me a pillow.

After breakfast the clouds started clearing out so I got ready for some riding. I wanted to visit La Mauricie National Park so off I went.

A nice ride there through small towns and a very nice ride through the park. Newly paved road through there and nice and twisty with some nice scenic areas. As I stopped to take pictures at on spot I noticed a lot of small flies following me around. Didn't think much of it until they started biting me.

Shit. Blackflies. I haven't encountered blackflies in years but here they were biting away at me. Now the blackfly bite for me is not painful when they bite and the after bite effect is some itching. Mosquitos on the other hand will leave large welts when they bite me and itch for days.

So I wasn't to worried about them until I tried to put my helmet on. They were swarming like crazy so I had to do the dash up and down the parking lot to make sure there were no blackflies in the helmet when I put it on.

I first thought this worked until a few minutes later as I was riding along I could feel something crawling in my ear. Shit. I pull over immediately and pull my helmet off and stick my finger in my ear. Since I had my gloves on I couldn't get my finger in so off come the sunglasses and stick the end of those in to my ear and pull out a blood covered blackfly.

Once that was taken care of it was back to doing the helmet dash again trying to get the helmet on without any blackflies. I succeed.

I came along another nice vista but didn't pull the camera out because of the blackflies. Just stopped and let the Gopro take a few pictures.

From there it was one through the park then heading south to pick up the highway back in to Quebec to go to Mountain Equipment Co-op for a pillow, blackfly spray and a little Whisperlite International stove that will burn naptha, kerosene and gasoline.

From there it was back towards the K.O.A. I stopped at Le Monde des Bieres. A great fantastic selection of beers plus a huge selection of gourmet sausages. Check them out if you are in the area.

Then back to the camp for beers and dinner.
