I had my high school reunion on the weekend (no I won't say how many years) and decided to camp for the weekend.
I wanted to stay at Turkey Point Provincial Park but it was full so instead I went to nearby Backus Heritage Conservation Area. After living in the area for eight years I never knew about this place.
This was the first time camping with the Ural and was a good test to see what works and what doesn't and what else I might need.
For the most part all went well. The tent went up quick although I must remember to start filling the air mattress up with the electric pump while I'm setting up the tent.
Now the air mattress gave me the most problems. I filled it up with a foot pump, took about 125 pumps, put the plug in and left for the party. Upon return the mattress had no air in it so before retiring for the night I had to pump it up again, 125 pumps. I did notice that the plug was not closed.
All filled up I crawled into the sleeping bag and went to sleep. My caring neighbours decided to have a very loud argument at 05:00, waking me from a deep slumber. To my surprise I was no longer floating on a cushion of air but lying on the hard ground. The air mattress was flat. Again. I noticed again the plug was open. O.K. this will not do.
Get up and start filling the mattress again not all the way though as I was only going to sleep a few more hours. Back to sleep and waking again on the ground.
So time to get up and cook some breakfast.
After breakfast I decided to have a look around and discovered the old grindhouse mill that is still in working condition. I didn't get a chance to check out all of the grounds but plan to go back.
